Rods and Reels

If you are used to your own gear then please bring it as its better than spending time learning a new rod. A reel with a smooth drag is helpful as we fish light tippets for the size of fish we target. That being said I provide 5 and 6 weight set ups including all terminal.

Generally we use 9ft fives and sixes. They have enough guts to deal with the rigs that we fish, windy conditions and have enough length for mending.

I have waders, boots and camping gear for hire for hire but feel free to bring stuff you are used to.

A good base layer is a must as we can be a four seasons in one day kinda destination.

Throughout most of the season you’ll find me in a pair of shorts, skins(leggings) and a pair of neoprene gravel guard socks on the bottom half but waders in the cooler months of October and April. Many people wear light weight trousers.

Then on top a merino or synthetic long sleeve tee and spf rated shirt. I carry a soft shell and rain jacket with a down sweater for the cooler periods.

Buffs and sun gloves are necessary for both the sun and bugs.

Top that off with your favourite hat, a lighter shade of polaroid sun glasses and some spf50 sunblock and you are ready to go.
